We want to share with you some words from our CEO, Roberto Gutiérrez:
I am writing to you from my son Álvaro’s desk, in front of me I have a photo, of a small boy who is now hidden inside another larger boy.
Although, like a lot of you, I do not have an ideal work space in my house, I am, one of the many of us today who is confined to a luxurious cell, locked inside my home and overwhelmed by the reality that surrounds us.
It is, perhaps, difficult to compare the pain and fear that people have felt at certain moments in history, but, without doubt, this is a dreadful time, when people are dying, many of them alone. People don’t have the chance to say goodbye to their loved ones, and we cannot physically support, accompany or embrace those who are ill or who have lost someone.
All of those people have a first and last name and, unfortunately, throughout these days, some of you or some of our colleagues may have already been sick, could have become ill and might have even suffered the loss of someone very important, close and dear.
From my shared solitude, I would like to take advantage of this email to accompany you through these difficult moments, to convey to you our best wishes and to send a warm embrace, especially, to those of you who are finding yourselves most directly affected by this crisis that we are all facing.
This unexpected and uncustomary situation, is certainly forcing us to think deeply and will surely help us to learn things that we can take forward with us into the future.
In fact this crisis is already teaching us to learn to look at things differently and see that we are surrounded by superheroes, big and small who we may not have noticed before. Many of them wear a kind of white cape but don’t always have gloves or masks. I have come to realise that I am surrounded by a team of superheroes who strive to give their best each day, who put on a smile and try to make sure everything turns out well. This is the moment to accompany them and reveal the superhero who hides within us all. This is the moment to come together, work together and overcome this terrible situation. The moment to open up, ask for help and gracefully accept it. A moment to share, console and support others.
Let the light within you shine and the dark shadows that may be around you, will fade and disappear. if for some reason, your light starts to dim, don’t despair and allow those who are close, to help it shine again. Share your fears and see them vanish and, if you can try to trace a half smile during these difficult days, you’ll find that over time a broader grin will appear effortlessly and spontaneously.
I trust we will soon be through this, fear will fade and the sound of laughter, the joy of warm embraces and the murmur of animated conversations will return. In short, better times will come and I am sure they are just around the corner.
Please remember that all of us at Alvantia are with you and close to you in the distance. Take care, stay upbeat and together we will come out stronger on the other side of this crisis.
I look forward to seeing you very soon, safe and well.
